Former Polish national goalkeeper Artur Boruc has announced that he still has hopes to play in the forthcoming Euro 2012 tournament.

The 32-year-old player, who last donned a Polish jersey in 2010, had previously ruled out taking part, having fallen out with national coach Franciszek Smuda. He has now reversed his stand.
“I want to play for the Polish national side,” Boruc told public broadcaster TVP on Wednesday. “I can talk with the trainer about what has happened, and what's going on.” he said. “Perhaps this could be a cure for all the bad thing that are happening with this story,” he added.
Smuda, however, has declared several times that the popular Polish goalie will not be in his squad.
Boruc, who currently plays for ACF Fiorentina after enjoying a successful spell with Glasgow's Celtic, had earlier spoken out against Smuda in the press. “The coach doesn't mince his words -“vulgarities come easily to him,” Boruc said. Poland is set to co-host Euro 2012 with Ukraine, with the opening match due to take place at Warsaw's new National Stadium on 8 June. (nh, bee)
