National team coach Franciszek Smuda (pictured) and captain Jakub Błaszczykowski both voted for the eventual winners of this year's Ballon d’Or for best player and best manager.
Błaszczykowski’s votes for best trainer were:
1) Guardiola; 2) Mourinho; 3) Ferguson.
Smuda’s: 1) Guardiola; 2) Del Bosque; 3) Loew.
For best player they voted as follows:
Błaszczykowski: 1) Messi; 2) Ronaldo; 3) Xavi.
Smuda: 1) Messi; 2) Xavi; 3) Iniesta.
Barcelona’s Argentine forward Lionel Messi won the Ballon d’Or award, the first man since France's Michel Platini to take the title three years in succession, while the Men’s Coach of the Year award went to his club coach, Pep Guardiola.
24-year-old Messi won the award after polling 47.88 percent of the votes, ahead of Ronaldo (21.6 percent) and Xavi (9.23 percent).(jh)
