The date is when Croatia will sign the EU Treaty of Accession, after years of talks between Brussels and Zagreb.

Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic, who was in Warsaw on Monday, tells our reporter Danusia Isler, that due to the finance crisis, Serbia's EU accession project is “long term”.

Poland's Secretary of State for European Affairs Mikolaj Dowgielewicz said last night that Warsaw was working to create a consensus on an agreement with Serbia, as Poland currently heads the six-month rotating EU presidency.

“We are working on obtaining the consent of all 27 EU member states regarding Serbia's candidacy. I hope the outcome will be positive, but we cannot provide any guarantees at the moment,” Dowgielewicz said. (pg)
