Moscow has announced that it is prepared to undertake bilateral talks with eurozone members and give financial aid to ailing economies in the EU.

Chief economic advisor to the Kremlin, Arkady Dvorkovich made the announcement Monday, telling journalists that Russia might invest up to 10 billion US dollars in the eurozone economies through International Monetary Fund mechanisms.

However, Dvorkovich did not say when the payments would be made, and precisely which form they would take.

According to press reports in Russia, Dvorkovich is billed to be the country’s next finance minister if Dmitry Medvedev becomes the country’s next prime minister after elections there at the beginning of December. (jb)
