The ceremony, to take place midday, will be attended by the head of the European Parliament, Jerzy Buzek, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and European Council President Herman van Rompuy.
The new headquarters is located next to the Schuman roundabout, the heart of the EU district, where the top EU institutions are situated.
The building cost 19,5 million euro to erect and will hold a 200-strong permanent staff.
According to a statement issued by the Government’s Information Center, the new embassy, constructed in just 13 months attests to the intense preparations ahead of Poland’s presidency in the Council of the European Union.
“The ceremony will mark a significant, new presence of Poland in Brussels,” said European Affairs Minister Mikołaj Dowgielewicz. “It will a major step in illustrating how ready Poland is for the presidency.”
Donald Tusk is taking the opportunity of being in Brussels to hold talks with the attending top EU officials on the upcoming presidency, which begins on 1 July, alongside the politics and economy of the European Union and the neighbouring countries. (ab)
