Euro 2012 'Warsaw Stadium' station given thumbs up from building inspector

“The appropriate permit has been issued by Jaroslaw Grabowski, the Masovian province's building supervision inspector,” Ivetta Biały, spokeswoman for the regional Masovian local authority, has said.

The station, on the east bank of the River Vistula, is close to Warsaw's new National Stadium, where the Euro 2012's opening match between Poland and Greece will take place on 8 June.

Three group games, a quarter and semi final will be staged at the stadium and the newly renovated train station will play a crucial part in getting fans to the venue.

The station was originally designed in 1955 but has been extensively renovated, with modernised platforms and track. (pg)
