An unnamed 25-year old man with what reporters have called a “broken penis” and doctors “penile fracture” was rushed to hospital in Lodz this week.
The man’s condition was described as "very rare” and his condition now "stable."
A penile fracture is caused by a rupture of the tunica albuginea, the inner part of the penis, and is most often caused by a “blunt trauma” to an erect member.
Jozef Matych, a urologist at the hospital, told TVN24 that the penis had “broken in much the same way as bones are broken.”
Surgery is required in about 50 percent of cases and most patients are able to have sex again, reassure doctores. (jh)
