Held under the president’s honorary patronage the event is an opportunity for horse breeders from around the globe to admire Polish Arabians famous around the world.

The focal point of the three-day event is the “Pride of Poland”, the famous auction of Arabian horses which will take place in Janow Podlaski on Sunday.

Thirty two top class horses – 20 mares and 2 stallions – are to be auctioned.

Janow Podlaski is Poland’s oldest horse stud farm, famous for its purebred Arabians. To this day the farm has maintained its two breeding lines: the pure Arabians and the Anglo-Arabian half bloods.

The Pride of Poland Auction gathers breeders from around the world. Among frequent attendees are the Rolling Stones’ drummer Charlie Watts and his wife Shirley.

In 2008, over one million euro was paid for the 13-year-old champion mare Kwestura, bought by a bidder from the Middle East. (di/pg)
