Gas blast kills three in Polish city

Three people, including two children, were reported dead and four others injured after an apparent gas blast ripped through a residential building in the southern Polish city of Bytom on Saturday.

The three fatalities were a 39-year-old woman and her five- and seven-year-old daughters, public broadcaster TVP Info reported.

The explosion occurred in a ground-floor apartment shortly after 1 p.m. local time, firefighters said.

Seventeen fire crews were deployed after flames engulfed the building, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
