Poland braces for heatwave

The mercury is expected to hit 35 degrees Celsius in some parts of Poland this week, weather forecasters have warned.

The heatwave is expected to peak on Wednesday, state news agency PAP reported.
Experts said that people looking after children and the elderly, especially those with chronic illnesses, should take particular care of their charges.
They advised Poles to avoid physical exertion and exposure to the sun, to drink plenty of water and wear light, airy clothing.
Anyone venturing outside should cover their head, protect their eyes with sunglasses, use sun cream and avoid drinking alcohol, according to experts.
