He replaces Joanna Kopcińska, who has won a seat in the European Parliament for Poland’s ruling conservatives, state news agency PAP has reported.
Mueller previously served as a deputy minister for science and higher education in Poland’s conservative government.
His appointment as press spokesman by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki comes as part of a sweeping Cabinet reshuffle in Warsaw.
Polish President Andrzej Duda on Tuesday swore in seven new government ministers, including for finance, labour, education and internal affairs, after a string of Polish officials were elected EuroMPs last month.
