Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak headed the main Veterans Day celebrations held this year in Rzeszów, south-east Poland.

Minister Błaszczak presented military decorations to soldiers - participants in missions abroad. Thanking for their service, which he said was "appreciated by foreign allies" he spoke of representing Poland with dignity, courage and sacrifice.
He also informed of the new legislation accepted by the Council of Ministers which provides new subsidies and larger scope of medical services for veterans. In Poland, there are 21 thousand servicemen with the status of veterans and 800 who have been injured in service.
