During the day-long simulation, local officials and the military were expected to test the city’s readiness to deal with a terrorist attack involving the use of an airplane or various types of toxic substances, according to media reports.
Sirens were expected to wail in the Polish capital and across the country’s central Mazowieckie region as part of an effort to test an early warning system.
The exercise, codenamed "Renegade/Sarex 19," was being organised by the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
