Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said in a Twitter post on Wednesday that he was “very worried to hear of a racist attack” on the Polish ambassador, Marek Magierowski, in Tel Aviv.

Morawiecki added: “Poland strongly condemns this xenophobic act of aggression. Violence against diplomats or any other citizens should never be tolerated.”

Ambassador Magierowski was physically and verbally assaulted while standing outside the Polish embassy in Tel Aviv on Tuesday, according to a report by the Jerusalem Post.

The attack on the Polish envoy came amid diplomatic tension between Poland and Israel.

The Polish foreign ministry this week canceled a planned visit by Israeli officials to Warsaw amid concerns that Israel wanted talks to focus on restitution of property that once belonged to Jews.
