Two reported hurt as strong winds lash Poland

Two people have been reported slightly injured as strong winds battered parts of Poland this week, breaking trees and damaging roofs on buildings.

Firefighters said they were called out almost 5,000 times on Tuesday alone to remove fallen trees and deal with the aftermath of powerful winds, mostly in the country's central and northern regions.
The gales disrupted power supplies and damaged the roofs of almost 400 buildings, Paweł Frątczak, a spokesman for the State Fire Service, said on Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile, a total of 363 forest fires were reported nationwide amid a prolonged spell of dry weather, Frątczak said, as cited by Poland’s PAP news agency.
Meteorologists were on Wednesday issuing warnings of possible sand storms and limited visibility on roads in the country’s northeast.
