Eight fire deaths in Poland over Easter

Eight people were killed and 59 others injured as a result of fires in Poland over the Easter holidays, firefighters have said.

A total of 3,517 fires were recorded nationwide from Holy Saturday to Easter Monday, Poland’s PAP news agency reported, citing a spokesman for the State Fire Service, Paweł Frątczak.

In all, firefighters were called out 5,247 times over the Easter holidays to attend fires and other emergencies across the country, Frątczak was quoted as saying on Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, 38 people were killed and 308 injured in 281 accidents on Polish roads during the Easter long weekend, police have said.
