“I wish all my countrymen and women in this country, and Poles far away from their homeland, a peaceful, joyful and family-oriented Easter,” Morawiecki says in the video, posted on Twitter.

The film shows the prime minister, who heads a government that champions traditional Roman Catholic values, as a guest in a family home, sitting at a table laden with traditional Easter food.

A child’s voice off-camera recounts in a happy tone the benefits her family is receiving from a swathe of spending promises recently unveiled by Poland’s ruling conservative ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party.

Easter, a time replete with traditions informed by the country’s long Christian heritage, is a period when Poles spend time with their families.

The faithful have food blessed in church on Easter Saturday. A day later, Poles eat a traditional Easter Sunday breakfast.
