Jarosław Kaczyński, head of Poland’s governing Law and Justice (PiS) party, and Spain’s Santiago Abascal were expected to discuss “a future alliance and cooperation in the European Parliament,” public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported, citing a tweet by a politician with the Polish ruling conservative party.

"Tomorrow Chairman Jarosław Kaczyński will meet Santiago Abascal, the leader of the Spanish Vox party, which is rising in the polls,” Tomasz Poręba, head of the PiS party’s European campaign team, tweeted on Tuesday.

Poręba added: “The main topic is a future alliance and cooperation in the EP.”

Poland’s Kaczyński in January held talks in Warsaw with Matteo Salvini, leader of Italy’s right-wing League party.

After the meeting, Salvini said he and the head of Poland’s ruling conservatives had started a dialogue on cooperating in the European Parliament after May’s elections.

Poles will vote in European elections on May 26.

The European Parliament is the directly elected parliamentary institution of the European Union, of which Poland has been a member since 2004.
