The device is now being tested in medical centres in 10 different countries, including Britain, Sweden, Italy and Germany, Poland’s PAP news agency has reported.

It cited Wojciech Radomski from StethoMe, a start-up company that has developed the new-generation stethoscope, as saying that the device is “equipped with artificial intelligence to enable an initial examination before the doctor decides on the final diagnosis” and course of treatment.

The smart stethoscope, which is being touted as a world first, has been developed using funds from Poland’s National Centre for Research and Development (NCBiR) and the European Regional Development Fund.

It is expected to hit international markets next year, PAP reported.
