As his party marked three years in power, Jarosław Kaczyński, leader of the governing Law and Justice (PiS) party, said Poles needed “an efficient state, efficient institutions … [and] a dynamic group of entrepreneurs” in both private and state-run companies.

He was speaking at a two-day gathering of his party's parliamentary caucus in Jachranka near Warsaw.

Kaczyński said the eight years during which the previous Civic Platform-led government was in office until late 2015 was marked by a string of scandals.

Senior Law and Justice politicians have this week been summing up their three years in power and outlining their priorities for the months ahead.

Poland’s political parties are gearing up for an electoral marathon, with European and parliamentary ballots scheduled for 2019 and a presidential election for 2020.
