In the last week of November alone there were over 125,000 new cases, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
But only 3.4 percent of the population were vaccinated against influenza last year, the agency added.
Doctors warn that flu can cause a range of complications.
Influenza can make a sufferer five times more likely to have a heart attack, IAR reported.
