All Poles, regardless of political affiliation, should join a White-and-Red March when Poland celebrates its centennial of independence on Sunday, a Polish official has said after Warsaw City Hall banned a nationalist-organised march.

Deputy Culture Minister Jarosław Sellin told Polish Radio that he hoped the official White-and-Red March hosted by Polish authorities would unite people who in previous years took part in the Independence March – organised by self-declared patriotic and nationalist organisations – with those who had not marched on Independence Day in the past.
The official White-and-Red March will on Sunday march a centenary of Poland's independence.
Coinciding with the signing of an armistice to end WWI, November 11 also marks 100 years since Polish statesman Józef Piłsudski arrived in Warsaw after being held prisoner in Germany, announcing Polish independence, allowing Poland to return to the map of Europe after more than 120 years of partitions and foreign rule.
The official march is set to follow the same route through Warsaw typically taken by the Independence March.
Meanwhile, a Warsaw district court reversed City Hall's ban on the Independence March, but Warsaw said it would appeal the decision. (vb)
