Poland’s ruling conservatives far ahead in new poll

Poland’s ruling conservative Law and Justice party (PiS) is backed by 41 percent of voters, while opposition parties lag far behind, according to a new poll.

The survey by researcher Instytut Badań Pollster found the Civic Coalition, an alliance between the Civic Platform (PO) and Nowoczesna (Modern) parties, is supported by 31 percent.

The Kukiz’15 grouping could count on 9-percent backing.

The Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) is in fourth position, with 7 percent, followed by the Polish People’s Party (PSL), on 6 percent, according to the survey.

The poll was conducted on October 1 on a sample of 1,030 adult Poles.
