The Polish Center for International Aid has said it will supply 7,200 special plastic sheets to more than 150 refugee camps on the Syrian-Lebanese border as winter weather draws near.

The organisation said winter was a "fight for survival" in the mountainous region of Lebanon where many asylum seekers have found refuge.

The organisation said it first checked the state of tents at the camps and determined what would be needed to help refugees survive the winter.

The organisation has been providing aid in Lebanon since 2012 and is expanding its initiative to Syria.

It says that it is the only organisation in the world providing large-scale shelter to Syrians in Lebanon's Arsal district, close to war-torn Syria.
