Poland will spend over PLN 6 billion (EUR 1.5bn, USD 1.8bn) next year on improving the country’s local roads, Infrastructure Minister Andrzej Adamczyk said on Tuesday.

Adamczyk told reporters that this year Poland has earmarked PLN 1.3 billion for repairing and building local roads.
Around 2,800 people died and 11,000 were severely injured in road accidents in Poland in 2017, putting the country close to the bottom of a European Union ranking on road safety.
Some 33,000 road accidents and nearly 440,000 collisions occurred in Poland last year, according to a European Commission report cited by the Rzeczpospolita daily.
