Poland's central bank has issued a new collector’s banknote to mark the centennial of national independence.

The limited-edition PLN 20 note, which enters circulation on Friday, features an image of Marshal Józef Piłsudski, a statesman and military leader who is seen as a key figure in Poland recovering its sovereignty a century ago.
The National Bank of Poland (NBP) has previously put into circulation a silver collector's PLN 10 coin to mark the centenary of the country’s regained independence.
The bank plans to follow up with a PLN 10 coin bearing an image of pianist, composer and statesman Ignacy Jan Paderewski, another architect of Polish independence.
Poland re-emerged as an independent state on November 11, 1918, the day World War I ended, after 123 years of partition by Russia, Austria and Prussia.
