Officials have urged people to avoid walking in the open and by the Vistula River, warning that the snake could be hungry and aggressive.

A search started on land and on water after residents found a freshly shed, five-metre-long skin in the Konstancin Jeziorna area, just south of the Polish capital, last Saturday.

Fire brigade spokesman Paweł Frątczak said on Friday that firefighters were using four drones to search the area from the air, backed by four boats and pontoons and an employee of the Warsaw zoo.

The authorities do not know where the snake came from, the PAP news agency reported.
