Police detain Polish mayor on suspicion of tender fixing

The mayor of Żyrardów, near Warsaw, has been detained by Polish anti-corruption police on suspicion of fixing real estate tenders.

Two businessmen from Poland's northwest have also been detained.

Police spokesman Piotr Kaczorek said the mayor is suspected of rigging real estate tenders worth PLN 1.5 million (EUR 350,000).

Two properties located close to Poland's Baltic coast were home to a leisure centre that belonged to Żyrardów.
