Pole chosen to head int’l medical organisation

Poland’s Katarzyna Nessler has been elected as president of the Vasco da Gama Movement of young GPs at the organisation’s conference in Kraków, southern Poland.

The meeting was attended by delegates representing some 2,000 young family physicians from 33 countries which are members of the organisation. The Movement is the European branch of the World Organization of Family Doctors, which brings together young general practitioners.
Born and educated in Kraków, Nessler has been the Polish representative for the Vasco da Gama Movement since 2014.
She started her general practitioner training in 2012. She has upgraded her professional qualifications in several countries, including Australia, Brazil, the Netherlands and Spain.
She is married to a plastic surgeon and has two sons. She is keen on sport, with a special interest in tennis, swimming and skiing. (mk/pk)
