Poland’s Central Anticorruption Bureau also detained a retired intelligence service officer and a businessman, Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported on Wednesday.
The former justice minister has been named only as “Andrzej K.”
Those detained are suspected of impersonating security services officers and offering to use their apparent influence in law enforcement agencies, the justice system and tax offices in return for payment from businessmen, IAR reported.
Former Polish prime minister and ex-central bank governor Marek Belka headed a government backed by the left in 2004-2005.
