Forty-two percent of those surveyed by online researcher Ariadna for the Wirtualna Polska news website said they did not want to see Tusk return to Polish politics after the end of his term as president of the European Council.

Meanwhile, 27 percent of respondents said they would be happy to see Tusk plunge back into Polish politics after years in Brussels.

Thirty-one percent of those polled were undecided, the survey found, according to public broadcaster TVP Info.

The question posed to respondents was: "Do you think Donald Tusk should return to Poland and lead the opposition in a bid to remove the governing Law and Justice (PiS) party from power?"

At the same time, 44 percent of respondents said that Tusk was not taking good care of Poland’s interests in his Brussels job, while 30 percent voiced the opposite view, and 26 percent were undecided.

The survey was conducted from December 1 to 4 on a sample of 1,068 adult respondents.
