Polish PM’s tweet seen as sign she could be replaced in gov't reshuffle

Poland's prime minister has posted a message on Twitter that some say is a sign she could be replaced in an impending government reshuffle.

Beata Szydło tweeted: “Regardless of everything, Poland comes first. A country caring for family and values, and one that is safe. A country based on Christian foundations, tolerant and open. Modern and ambitious. That’s my country. An example to follow for Europe and the world. This is the way we Poles are.”
Szydło sent the tweet in the early hours of Tuesday.
A few hours earlier media outlets including private radio broadcaster RMF FM and the Rzeczpospolita daily reported that Szydło would be replaced by Deputy Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
According to Rzeczpospolita, Morawiecki, who is also finance and development minister, could take over as prime minister next week.
Late on Monday, Poland’s ruling conservatives met to discuss issues including changes to the Cabinet, according to Poland’s PAP news agency.
In late October, Szydło denied media speculation she might lose her job in a planned government reshuffle.
In early November, Szydło briefed the leader of the ruling conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party, Jarosław Kaczyński, on a proposed plan for reshuffling her Cabinet.
