Smolensk: exhumations show more victim mix-ups

On Monday, the State Prosecutor said that partial remains of other victims were found the coffin of General Bronisław Kwiatkowski.

The bodies of the two generals were exhumed as part of a new investigation into the causes of the 10 April 2010 presidential plane crash in Smolensk, which killed a total of 96 people, mainly top Polish political and military figures.

Under the new investigation, the bodies of 83 victims will be exhumed for new tests to be conducted following allegations of errors in Russian forensic documents.

As well as confirming identities, Polish state prosecutors are performing new autopsies and taking samples for screening. (mk/vb)
