As the second round of French presidential elections took place on Sunday, holders of French passports in Poland also had the chance to vote.

Polls in Poland close at 7pm CET, while voting in France ends at 8pm.

Pierre Levy, the French ambassador to Warsaw, told Polish Radio that the second round of voting in Poland went ahead without any incidents and that the turnout in France by noon stood at 28.23 percent.

This was some two percent lower than the figure at the corresponding time during the 2012 presidential election, Levy added.

On Sunday, French nationals will elect either the National Front party's Marine Le Pen or founder of the En Marche! (Onwards!) party, centrist Emmanuel Macron, who had a 20 percent lead in the polls ahead of election day. (vb)
