The website said this is more “proof of Poland's key role in the eastern flank [of NATO] and closer cooperation with the US”.
Brent M. Williams, Public Affairs Officer for Mission Command Element for the Atlantic Resolve mission, said that the command centre will be relocated from Baumholder in Germany to Poznań in western Poland, according to Defence24.pl.
In practice, this means that the US land forces in Central and Eastern Europe will be coordinated only from Poland, the website added.
Mission Command Element is a divisional command for the US Army Europe, created in 2015 based on the structure of the 4th Infantry Division stationed in the United States. (rg/pk)
