Coal is the main energy resource in Poland, it cannot be replaced with any other resource, because it is not economically feasible, President Andrzej Duda said on Monday.

Duda spoke to miners at the Bogdanka coal mine in eastern Poland.
“I wanted to assure you that for me as president, the issue is very clear,” Duda said.
“It is obvious that coal is our primary energy source. It cannot be replaced with wind energy, or any other energy, because this is not economically feasible. This can be used in addition to our coal-based energy,” Duda said.
The comments came just one day after Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydło said that modernising the mining industry is a priority for the government.
Sunday marked Miner's Day in Poland. (rg)
