“I think we can say that the government and the Prime Minister enjoy the trust of their foreign partners,” Krasnodębski, an MEP representing the governing Law and Justice (PiS), said on Wednesday, exactly a year since Szydło’s government was sworn into power.

“Following the Brexit referendum and elections in the US […] the international situation is very dynamic,” he said.

Krasnodębski said the fact that Warsaw hosted a NATO summit, where the alliance decided to bolster its eastern flank, was a “very positive result” for the Polish government.

He added that yet another success of Szydło’s government was the improvement of relations in the Visegrad group, which comprises Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland.

“We have common interests and common problems, issues like the economy and political issues, such as the refugee crisis and the future of the European Union,” Krasnodębski said.

“We have a lot in common and I think that in the EU, the countries that are able to organise and build an understanding have more to say [together] than as individual countries”, he added.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Szydło said Poland would not undermine its national interests to forge international agreements.

“Poland is becoming a partner on the international area and we will always guard that, which is very important to our country,” she said.
