Arabian horse event starts in Poland

The world-famous Arabian Horse Days begins Friday in Janów Podlaski, eastern Poland.

The most expected part of the event is the prestigious "Pride of Poland" auction of thoroughbred horses
A total of 31 of the most beautiful Polish bred horses will be exhibited at the auction.
The organisers hope that the biggest star of Sunday's auction will be 16-year old mare Emira, which will probably achieve the highest hammer price at this year's event.
Even under communism, Poland was well-known for its two prime thoroughbred stud farms of Janów Podlaski and Walewice. (rg)
