The match, in which Poland lost on penalties and bowed out of the football championships in France, was watched by an average 8.07 million viewers on Polish state broadcaster TVP’s TVP 1 channel, the PAP news agency reported.
It added that 6.88 million watched the game on Polsat and 1.02 million on Polsat Sport. Both those channels are owned by private broadcaster Polsat.
The Polish squad has been widely praised at home for its performance and for making it to the quarter-finals, the furthest it has ever reached in the European championships. (pk)
