Piotr P. (surname withheld under Polish privacy laws) stands accused of raping the then 22-year-old patient in his surgery in Strzelce Krajeńskie, western Poland, in May 2014.

The doctor allegedly administered drugs to the woman prior to the check-up, and she was apparently only partly conscious while being examined.

Later, when she had recovered, she informed police. Officers found a used condom in a bin at the defendant's surgery.

The suspect denies raping the woman, and claims he used the condom for masturbation.

In recent days, other women have come forward with claims that they were sexually abused by the man. (nh/pk)
