Man sets himself on fire in Polish court

                    A  man was rushed to hospital on Thursday morning after setting himself on fire at an appeal court in Poznań, western Poland.

                         The man had challenged a ruling against him in his divorce case: the orginal verdict had blamed him for the breakdown of his marriage.
“During the reading of the court's verdict, the man doused himself with petrol and set fire to himself,” court spokeswoman Elżbieta Fijałkowska said.
The defendant then rushed out into a corridor, and although a member of staff managed to extinguish the flames, the man is in a serious condition.
Doctors at a Poznań hospital have put the man into a medically-induced coma.
Fijałkowska said that court will be closed throughout Thursday. (nh/pk)
