Officers from the Polish Central Bureau of Investigation (CBŚP) were apparently acting following clearance by the Appellate Prosecutor's Office in Łódź.

A statement released by the Fakty i Mity weekly (Facts and Myths) claimed that CBŚP agents spent 11 hours removing both editorial and accounting disks from our building.”

Besides the detainment of editor-in-chief Roman Kotliński, four other members of the editorial staff were questioned.

Nevertheless, the statement by staff suggested that the raid “is probably connected with private matters” rather than editorial or personal ones.

Roman Kotliński is a former MP of the liberal, anticlerical party Your Movement, which was the third largest party in the lower house of parliament prior to the October 2015 general election.

The party joined a left-wing coalition in the run-up to the election, yet the grouping failed to cross the 8 percent threshold needed by coalitions to enter parliament. (nh/pk)
