The Kukiz 15 Movement, which has 42 deputies in the 460-seat Polish Parliament, has come up with the idea of a national referendum on refugees.

“If I am to receive guests I should decide on who I am going to receive, as I am the host, not any political party,” the movement’s leader, MP and former rock star Paweł Kukiz said in an interview with the Polish Press Agency.

Kukiz expressed hope that the ruling Law and Justice party will support the idea of such a referendum.

Meanwhile, Law and Justice has said that no more than 400 refugees will be housed in Poland this year. The previous government, led by the Civic Platform, had pledged that in the long term, Poland would take in 7000. (mk/nh)
