Polish President appoints Social Dialogue Council

The RDS is a new forum for cooperation between representatives of workers, employers and the government.
The Social Dialogue Council has replaced the Trilateral Commission which operated during the presidency of Bronisław Komorowski.
The RDS will be made up of 59 people – ranging from employers, trade unionists and government officials, as well as one representative each from the presidential office, the National Bank of Poland and the Central Statistical Office (GUS).
President Andrzej Duda said during the appointment ceremony on Thursday that he hoped the Council will help “build a better Poland”.
He stressed that during his talks with Poles, one of the issues which was raised was the lack of dialogue with the government.
"A lot of important issues happening in this country which affect the life of citizens, are being decided – in their opinion – well above them, or against their will,” the President added.
Piotr Duda is head of the Solidarity trade union, and was a key ally in the presidential campaign of Andrzej Duda. (rg/rk)
