EUR 1.2 bn for flood infrastructure on Vistula and Odra

In the years 2016-2022, the Polish Environment Ministry will spend EUR 1.2 billion on the construction of new levees and reservoirs in the river basins of the Vistula and the Odra rivers.

The investments will be supported, among others, by The World Bank, opening a credit line of EUR 460 million.
The Ministry explained that the project will improve the safety from floods for 5.2 million people in Poland.
The overall cost of the program is approximately EUR 1.2 billion, of which the World Bank will cover EUR 460 million; the Council of Europe Development Bank – EUR 300 million; Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2020 - 200 million; the Polish National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management – EUR 100 million and with EUR 140 million coming from the state budget.
