The largest electricity block in Poland, with a capacity of 858 MW, has been fired up, and was back at full power by around noon, following an outage earlier this week.

The plant in Bełchatów in central Poland experienced a malfunction and stopped supplying electricity to the grid in the middle of a heatwave which has seen a spike in power demand.
The country’s power grid operator (PSE) had earlier imposed a limit on electricity use to industries. It is now expected to lift the restrictions on Friday.
A spokesperson for PGE, Iwona Paziak, had earlier told the PAP news agency that the outage was due to a “technical failure” and not because of the heatwave. (rg/rk)
