Authorities call for blood donations

Doctors point out that during the holiday season, blood donations are particularly needed because of the increased number of accidents. This is compounded by the fact that many donors leave for holidays, and blood inventory runs out.

Polish residents can donate blood at centres around the country.

Blood supply is running low in Warsaw and surrounding areas, where demand is particularly high.

“At the moment, the amount of inventory in the blood donation centres is at a critical level. Blood is issued to hospitals exclusively in cases of life-saving situations,” a spokesperson for the Regional blood donation centre in Warsaw said. (rg)
