The two miners had been missing since 18 April, when the mine experienced an earthquake at around 1,050 metres underground.

The rescue party found the bodies of the two men on 15 June.

According to the spokesperson of the mine, Wojciech Jaros, the discovery of the miners’ bodies does not mean the end of the underground operation.

The search equipment still needs to be brought to the surface, and the accident area still needs to be closed off. (rg)
