"He tried to unite Poles, showed moderation and an understanding to extreme and dogmatic views,” Gazeta Wyborcza says.
During a ceremony on Thursday, Gazeta Wyborcza editor-in-chief Adam Michnik gave the President a certificate and a map of Poland from 1715.
“Your contribution to the history of a free and democratic Poland, your sense of responsibility, respect for those who think differently, tolerant attitude, [...] and great personal culture will be remembered by the Republic,” Michnik said in a speech.
Michnik added that Komorowski – who lost the bid for re-election to Andrzej Duda – guaranteed national peace and tranquillity of Polish homes. (rg)
