The NowoczesnaPL party was officially unveiled by economist Ryszard Petru over the weekend.

“It would be possible for Civic Platform to cooperate with Ryszard Petru’s party on the basis of [developing a] program,” Lewandowski told Polish Radio.

The manifesto of NowoczesnaPL aims to discuss liberalisation of the economy, changing the social insurance system and creating opportunities for young people in the labour market, according to Ryszard Petru, who outlined the party’s plans on Sunday.

“I have the impression that the [manifesto] harks back to the original congress when PO was introduced at the Olivia Hall in Gdańsk,” Lewandowski said.

“Even the slogans are quite similar, [being] strongly libertarian. […] I consider myself to be a liberal, which is why I am pleased that these slogans – which are repeated by hundreds, or thousands of young people – have returned to the forefront.” (rg)
